As a Commercial Real Estate Advisor for NAI Heartland, Jim specializes in landlord and tenant representation in the Kansas City metro area. With over 40 years of commercial real estate experience Jim has spent the majority of his career representing Landlords and Tenants. His expertise includes over 15 years of managing high rise and suburban office properties and 25 years in office brokerage. During his career he has also been involved with asset disposition, tenant construction management, and project management.
Jim started his career in Midland, Texas where he managed over 1,000,000 square feet of high rise office buildings for local and national real estate firms. During his early career he also served as Director of Operations for the largest bank in the city where he was responsible for the operations of the banks owned and occupied real estate. He relocated to Virginia in 1988 where he continued his property management career with Integrated Resources. In 1992 he relocated to North Carolina and joined Highwoods Properties where he transitioned from property management into brokerage. There he represented both Landlords and Tenants such as Equity Office Properties and Duke University. In 1999 he joined Copaken, White and Blitt now Copaken Brooks in Kansas City as Director of Office Leasing and was later promoted to Sr. Vice President. His department was responsible for the leasing of 2.1 million square feet of high rise and suburban office buildings. In 2015 Jim joined NAI Heartland and presently focuses on Landlord and Tenant representation.
