ABOUT COMMERCIAL AGENT Chris Havens

Christopher Havens is a veteran real estate professional focusing exclusively on commercial office leasing, tenant representation and new office development for TerraCRG.

Havens co-created the first Brooklyn loft office market DUMBO with Two Trees Management. He worked the SL GREEN-led turn-around of 16 Court Street, staffed the leasing team for the 700,000 sf 470 Vanderbilt Avenue and created and executed Central Brooklyns first new multi-tenant office property 1000 Dean. He consulted on the pre-development of 25 Kent Avenue and is now helping clients create three new office properties in Brooklyn.

Prior to TerraCRG, Havens was the first Director of Commercial Real Estate for aptsandlofts.com, which was acquired by Citi Habitats in October 2015.

Specializing in the Brooklyn marketplace, Chris represents numerous properties including including 1000 Dean Street, a new media and creative office building in Crown Heights, 267 Douglass Street, 794 Union Street, 110 York Street shared spaces, 258 Duffield and 105 Court Street.

Active in tenant representation as well, Chris and his team lease space throughout Brooklyn, serving such prominent clients as Toll Brothers NY, Clase Azul, DATALOT, 2D photo, WEAV Music, Weems & Kozek, Brooklyn Digital Foundry, Sadowsky Guitar and the Brooklyn Public Library.

From 1998 to 2002, Chris worked with InsigniaESG, specializing in office leasing in Downtown Brooklyn and Western Queens, and the conversion of industrial properties to office space. He has since been involved in the conversion or re-positioning of 12 buildings, totaling over 4 million square feet. In 2002, he joined Two Trees Management Co. in DUMBO as Director of Leasing for their 1.2 million square foot portfolio, creating their marketing and leasing office. He is now a leading broker working the area on the tenant side there.

Chris founded the Creative Real Estate Group in 2007 to market and lease creative workspace in emerging Brooklyn markets. A consultant to Industry City Associates, then the largest owner of multi-story vintage warehouse properties in the USA, he designed their artist and office workspace leasing program. CREG represented 32 Court Street, the premier prewar boutique office property in Brooklyn, raising the occupancy rate from 80 to 95 during his term there.

In addition, Chris managed in-place and gut rehab projects for NYC HPD and BEC New Communities in the 1980s, helping complete 1000 units of affordable housing in Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Prospect Heights. He holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Hunter College and a B.A. from Macalester College. Chris is a Trustee of the Brooklyn Childrens Museum, a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, a Board Member of The Franklin Furnace, and a member of REBNY and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Chris and his family live in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
